Inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace

Nexans commits!

With 6.1% of the workforce suffering from disabilities, above the national average of 4% for French companies, Nexans is pursuing its long-term commitment to disability in France and is committed to implementing the necessary means to aim for "100% inclusion", whether in terms of recruitment, training, compensation, quality of life at work, or career development and support.

Encouraging the declaration of disability

The first challenge is to encourage disabled employees in France. To achieve this, Nexans relies on four pillars:

  • communication and information
  • flexible working hours and paid time off to carry out the procedures
  • the possibility of directing donations to dedicated associations
  • procedures for declaring one's situation as an employee that guarantee discretion.

A challenge for employment

Recruitment is also a major factor in the retention and professional development of disabled employees. To meet this challenge and illustrate our desire to be handi-accommodating, Nexans intends to rely on the Cap Emploi network and local players. Associations, training centers, integration structures and specialized recruitment firms are all valuable relays in the field.

All mobilized!

Our ambition is based on the mobilization of all departments, management lines and the unfailing commitment of Nexans' disability referents. These trusted individuals are responsible for facilitating and steering actions and acting as ambassadors for the employment of people with disabilities. They also provide the essential link with the occupational health department, in particular for adapting to the workstation: schedules, telecommuting, organization, training, equipment, ergonomics, presence of a life assistant.

Intimate and inspiring: Thomas' testimony

At Nexans, we value and respect the differences that make each person unique: discover the testimony of Thomas, a disabled intern in Nexans' IT department.

Concrete commitments

Communication actions are carried out at local and national level, such as the European Week for the Employment of People with Disabilities: conferences, sharing time, testimonials, digital communication.

Always rich in sharing, Nexans also participates in the Duo Day held every year. The principle is simple: a disabled person spends a day with a Nexans employee to discover the Group and our businesses.

Other concrete commitments support this trajectory, including a contribution to finance the remaining cost of hearing or optical aids and home improvements. This is in line with the Group's desire to promote the link between professional and personal life, thanks to flexible working hours and paid leave of absence for medical reasons.

Finally, Nexans is also committed to donating a portion of its apprenticeship tax to specialized training centers.
