Nexans relies on Vesto's expertise to accelerate the reuse and recycling of electrical cables in the construction sector

Oct 15, 2026

  • Nexans CableLoop solution evolves to strengthen the collection and recycling of electrical cables from construction sites
  • The partnership with Vesto enables the exploration of the conditions for safe, traceable reuse adapted to the requirements of the construction sector
  • Complementary solutions to recycle cables, collect small volumes and secure the development of reuse

Paris, October 15, 2026 – Nexans, the global pure player in sustainable electrification, committed for nearly twenty years to the circular economy, is evolving its CableLoop offering for the collection and recycling of electrical cables by partnering with Vesto, a French company specialising in technical reconditioning and the organisation of reuse flows.

Through this partnership, Nexans pursues a dual objective: to explore and secure a reuse value chain for electrical cables in the construction sector in France, while facilitating the collection of small quantities of cable waste from any brand, in order to consolidate them for recovery in France.

Accelerating circular solutions for electrical cables

With CableLoop, Nexans supports companies in the collection and recycling of electrical cables. By relying on Vesto's expertise, Nexans today strengthens access to these services, streamlines the organisation of flows and opens new prospects around reuse.

Our customers can thus rely on complementary circular solutions:

  • Cable recycling, for volumes below or above 3 tonnes ;
  • Requalification of cables for reuse, for certain cable references
  • Collection of small volumes in order to consolidate them and direct them to a French recovery channel.

This approach aims to preserve resources, reduce construction site waste and develop more circular solutions for construction professionals while contributing to national sovereignty.

Structuring a demanding and safe reuse value chain

The exploration of cable reuse is based on a technical and operational approach, led by Nexans in collaboration with its customers, suppliers and partners.

The ambition is to contribute to the establishment of a rigorous technical framework, guaranteeing the quality, traceability and safety of cables intended for a second life. This approach notably led Nexans to draft, with the support of the Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment – CSTB, a technical guide dedicated to the requalification of electrical cables.

Supported by the French State via ADEME and by Valobat, this initiative is part of and responds to the ambitions to develop secure reuse channels for construction-sector materials. Cable requalification aims to help secure the supply of raw materials, reduce the carbon footprint associated with production and support customers' environmental trajectories.

Vesto's expertise in support of Nexans' circularity approach

Vesto develops reconditioning activities for professional equipment and solutions dedicated to the construction sector through Cycle Up par Vesto. The company collects, reconditions and puts back on the market equipment recovered from refurbishment and deconstruction sites.

Nexans thus relies on complementary expertise: its technical mastery of cable systems and the challenges of their requalification, as well as Vesto's know‑how in reconditioning, logistics and organising reuse flows.

This complementarity will enable Nexans to provide faster, more reliable access to these new circular services.

“ At Nexans, we are convinced that sustainable electrification also relies on more responsible resource management. For many years, we have been developing cable collection and recycling solutions to preserve material value and reduce the environmental footprint of our value chain. This partnership with Vesto allows us to go further: by exploring the conditions for safe, traceable reuse adapted to the requirements of the construction sector, we are helping to drive the circular economy forward, together with the entire ecosystem. ”

Julien Hueber

CEO of Nexans

“ This partnership illustrates the complementarity between the R&D strength of an industrial company and the agility of a structure like ours, an expert in reuse. Identifying sources, organising on‑site collection and carrying out large‑scale reconditioning operations are skills we have developed across our different channels, and we are delighted to bring this expertise to the project. Our ambition is to be able to capture, on a single site, a multitude of flows by leveraging synergies between our channels. ”

Chief Executive Officer of Vesto

Mobilising the ecosystem to structure the value chain

To strengthen and accelerate this exploration, Nexans has also joined the Coalition Industrie Circulaire, a collective initiative bringing together actors committed to transforming industrial models.

In this context, Nexans contributes to an approach aiming to pilot the collection and requalification of electrical cables. The objective is to share learnings, test the operational deployment conditions and encourage the emergence of robust reuse channels at sector scale.

Nexans also relies on methodological work aimed at better defining and calculating the environmental impact of reconditioned products. This approach should provide reliable indicators to value the environmental benefits of circular solutions.

Through this partnership with Vesto, Nexans continues to roll out its circularity strategy and confirms its ambition: to make every stage of the cable's life cycle a lever for resource preservation and the decarbonisation of electrification.

This initiative benefits from €50,000 in support from the French State via ADEME.
